The Los Angeles Salon was founded by Alma Ruiz and Mercedes Gertz in September 2018. Inspired by the Paris Salon initiated by Rebecca Dolinsky in 2018. The Women's salon LA has grown to encompass thirty-six members, all in creative professions. They formerly met once a month on the LACMA campus to share ideas, support each other’s projects, and once The Box Project took form, to shape its presentation into an exhibition. The group currently convenes in Downtown Los Angeles, and is producing a women’s collaborative accordion book titled The Red Book Project.
